There is no one like Donatella Arpaia: successful restaurateur, food expert and entertainment authority. Steeped in the traditions of a serious “food family,” and also possessing a modern sense of stylish practicality that is all her own, Donatella is a unique mix of the traditional and the new. Donatella’s food knowledge has been passed down to her by Neapolitan and Apulian relatives in the oral tradition of the great kitchens of Italy. All ingredients are local and the ultimate in freshness and flavor, and measurements are in handfuls and pinches, not in ounces or teaspoons. When it comes to style, presentation and practicality, Donatella’s pace fast-forwards to how people live now and an aesthetic that is warm and modern. Crowned by Zagat as “The Hostess with the Mostest,” Donatella is owner of three of New York’s hottest and most acclaimed restaurants, davidburke & donatella, Anthos and Mia Dona. In addition to being a successful New York restaurateur, she has also been a reappearing judge on Iron Chef America, as well as the only female judge on The Next Iron Chef. And most recently, Donatella launched a collection of artisanal foods. It couldn’t be more clear that Donatella was destined for the restaurant business – after all, she was born into it! Donatella’s newly launched collection of artisanal foods is just the beginning. Currently, she is offering to the public an essential tomato sauce (passata), an extra virgin olive oil (fruttato) and her homemade almond cookies. Donatella learned the trade of making fresh tomato sauce, cultivating olive oil and baking cookies on the soil of Italy with her Italian family. Soon this line will be a pantry-necessity for all gourmands. Her newest additions to the Donatella collection include three ready-to-serve sauces: Marinara, Puttanesca & Arrabiata. All are made using 100% fresh San Marzano tomatoes. Just pour the sauce over pasta and serve! The products are currently available at Northeast Whole Foods Markets, as well as ShopRite and Hannaford stores nationwide; also, if you are in New York City, you may stop by any of her restaurants and purchase them.
